Meaning: (Nephro- Kidney, lithiasis-stone)

*Ureterolithiasis - Stone in Ureter
Meaning: (Uretero- Ureter, lithiasis-stone)

*Cystolithiasis - Stone in Bladder
Meaning: (Cysto- Bladder, lithiasis-stone)

Cause of USD: Multi-factorial and is strongly related to both genetic and environmental risk factors

Major risk factors

*Genetic predisposition (Family history)

*Metabolic disorders (Hyperuricosuria- high level of uric acid in urine, Hypercalciuria- high level of calcium in urine)

*Behavior pattern (age, gender, race, drugs, genetic, diet habit, alcohol consumption)

*Environmental risk factors (Occupation, heat stress, water scarcity, built environment and climate change)

*Family history

*Diet habits (eg., High salt intake, High intake of red meat consumption)

Example of red meat (Beef, Mutton and lamb, Pork)

*Lifestyle habits or practices

*Obesity

*Renal colic pain (Intense cramping pain)

*Hematuria (Blood in urine)

*Vomiting

*Fever



Prevention

Be hydrated, Drink adequate amount of water, avoid/reduce the intake of red meat consumption, avoid soda consumption, reduce salt intake
